The park, the pool and the olives

The park was laid out to be walked in during the hottest part of the day: mature limes and holm oaks, gravel paths and enough shade that you can be outside at three in the afternoon in August.

The pool is set below the terrace, screened by trees. Beyond it are eleven hectares of olives, still harvested each November, and the long avenue where the lights are strung for dinner.

A hundred and twenty on the lower lawn

The villa is licensed for civil ceremonies. The lower lawn takes a hundred and twenty seated, the great hall the same number standing if the weather turns, and the long avenue under lights is where most parties end up.

We work with a small number of planners who know the house. Tell us the date and we will say honestly whether it works.

The area

Pisa in half an hour, Lucca in forty minutes, the sea in thirty-five.

Pisa airport is thirty minutes away and has direct flights from most of northern Europe. Florence is an hour by car, Lucca forty minutes, and the Versilia beaches under an hour.

You will want a car. The villa sits on a hill road above the village, and while there is a small shop and a good trattoria in Asciano Pisano, everything else — Volterra, San Gimignano, the Chianti — assumes you are driving.
